Microfinish is 100% black owned, automotive component manufacturer based in the industrial hub of Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal. The company is a niche supplier of automotive, marine, locomotive and aerospace valve guides and valve seat insets to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and aftermarket customers. Microfinish is the only South African manufacturer of these products. The majority of its products are exported, mainly to Europe, with international customers placing high reliance on the precision, consistently high quality and good customer service that the company is renowned for.
The current owners acquired the then struggling business in 2012 and inherited old equipment, which was costly to run and was limited in speed and capacity. A process of re-establishing the company’s reputation and customer relationships has been ongoing over the last few years culminating in Microfinish approaching the KZN Growth Fund to finance the next step in its growth towards the purchase of additional modern equipment and business expansion.
The KZN Growth Fund has approved a senior loan facility towards the expansion project. This will create an additional 40 new jobs to add to Microfinish’s current staff compliment of about 125. The KZN Growth Fund is proud to be associated with Microfinish and in supporting an emerging black industrialist operating in a niche global industry. This project will also support various government initiatives to localize technology innovation and to localize the manufacturing of critical components used in the automotive industry.
