Link Africa is a provider of enabling Open Access telecommunications infrastructure and platforms for the delivery of high speed broadband services. The company builds, owns and operates Fibre Optic Networks in South Africa’s major cities. These networks are comprised of metropolitan backbone networks, access networks as well as the last mile to the end customer, commonly referred to as Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP).
Link Africa’s proprietary suite of innovative fibre deployment methodologies and technologies reduce the cost and increase the speed of deployment significantly. By using FOCUSTM, a patented system of deploying fibre optic cables in existing underground systems, namely, sewer, storm water and existing conduits, Link Africa is able to establish Fibre Optic Networks five times cheaper and three times faster than conventional means of dark fibre deployment (such as trenching).
Link Africa is a black owned and controlled business and is certified as BBBEE Level 1 compliant.
KGFT provided funding of R65 million in senior debt to Link Africa for the establishment of Fibre Optic Networks in Durban and Pietermaritzburg.
